Safety Escorts - Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the hours of operation? 24 Hours a day, 7 days a week

  • CSOs operate the Safety Escort Service from
    • 6 p.m. - 1 a.m. (Fall and Winter)
    • 7 p.m. - 1 a.m. (Spring)
    • 8 p.m. - 1 a.m. (Summer)
  • Police officers conduct safety escorts outside of the CSO working hours.

2. Will it cost anything? No. Safety Escorts is a free service to members of the UCI community.

3. To what locations do you escort? We will escort you to or from the following locations:
  • Main Campus
  • University Research Park
  • All campus housing areas
    • Middle Earth
    • Mesa Court
    • Arroyo Vista
    • Campus Village
    • Palo Verde
    • Puerto del Sol
    • Verano Place
    • Vista Del Campo
    • University Hills
  • University Town Center Apartments
    • Stanford Court
    • Harvard Court
    • Dartmouth Court
    • Cornell Court
    • Berkeley Court
    • Columbia Court
    • Ambrose Court

4. How long will I have to wait? Depending on the number of requests per evening, the wait time will vary. Our goal is to keep each wait under 10 minutes. It is recommended that you wait inside a building or in a well-lit location. Never wait in a dark or unpopulated area.

5. What mode of transportation will be used? Primary escorts will be conducted by foot. At times, you may be escorted in an electric cart or a departmental vehicle. At no time is a vehicle escort guaranteed.
